Rodent Control Service

Preferred products we use:

  • Snap traps
  • First Strike Soft Bait
  • Trap Rite stations

How to handle initial service?

  • Identify issue inside first. Make sure it’s not squirrels or flying squirrels
  • Inspect all inside nesting areas first. At a minimum kitchen, attic and basement
  • Inspect exterior for entry points. Seal up mice entry points (NOTE: We only seal up holes on the outside. Those are the holes mice use to go inside the house)
  • Check property in general for anything attracting mice
  • Use snap traps for quick resolution
  • Use First Strike in areas where snap traps don’t work
  • NOTE: The most common error in rodent control by pest control technicians is that they underestimate the degree of infestation! Avoid to stop your inspection at the first sight of activity. If you find activity in one area keep inspecting to find other areas with activity.

Why do we use these products?

  • Snap traps are quick and efficient. It shows tangible results.
  • First Strike is effective for a longer time period and can be easier to use in some areas
  • Trap Rite stations are for people who don’t want to see any visible snap traps

What to communicate to client?

  • Explain any clutter issues to client and that they need to be fixed
  • Explain any steps they can take to help eliminate nesting areas
  • Explain any steps they can take to make their property less attractive to rodents
  • Our office will follow up with you in two weeks to check the progress of the treatment

What to document?

  • Level of activity
  • If any source materials have been removed or should be removed by client
  • Any entry points that need to be sealed up by client

How to handle frequent re-services?

For homeowners on the Protection Plan who continue to have new mice enter the home over time requiring numerous follow-ups we recommend setting up exterior rodent bait stations.

Particularly for homes where repairs are not done these should be set up as to cut down on the frequency of follow up visits.

Add-on Services

  • Exterior Rodent Baitstations: These can be added for clients who are using our Premium Service Plan. We do charge $25 per bait station for the setup. They can’t be added for clients who are using a one-time service such as the 30-day rodent control.

Exterior Rodent Bait Stations

  • Exterior bait stations should always be weighed down or attached
  • Use hard bait (contrac) in exterior bait stations. Soft bait can easily be pulled out of the bigger stations
  • Be careful with bait placement in exterior rodent bait stations. Make sure to follow the label and not place too much bait.
  • Having a limited amount of bait in the station is an extra safety mechanism in case a dog is able to get to it somehow.
  • When targeting mice consider inserting a smaller bait station inside the large exterior bait station to protect non-targets such as chipmunks
